The Silverlight tooling addon for Visual Studio, is version specific, so the addon for Beta 2 will NOT work with RTM. We are in the last throws of testing an update for the Silverlight tools, to work with VS 2008 RTM, and hope to release them in the next couple of weeks (depending on the amount of turkey consumed this Thanksgiving). We will post a link when this update is available.

2007-11-19T20:20:22-05:0021460http://forums.silverlight.net//p/6850/21460.aspx/1?Re+Silverlight+tools+for+Visual+Studio+2008+Orcas+RTMRe: Silverlight tools for Visual Studio 2008 (Orcas) RTM
I'm dying to write some Silverlight app with the final release. I know that's not a real substitute for Visual Studio, but it should serve as far as Silverlight Apps go.
2007-11-24T17:03:36-05:0021811http://forums.silverlight.net//p/6850/21811.aspx/1?Re+Silverlight+tools+for+Visual+Studio+2008+Orcas+RTMRe: Silverlight tools for Visual Studio 2008 (Orcas) RTM
So what are we supposed to do if we had an ongoing project that we now have to stop work on? We eagerly awaited the 2008 RTM, downloaded the installation and spent 1/2 a day Wednesday getting it installed. Now you tell us we have to wait 'a couple weeks' before we can resume work on a very important project. You have got to be kidding!

At least there could have been some warning that perhaps you don't want to install the RTM if you are working with Silverlight. I find out when I have finished my update and start to reload my project from source control.

Now we will lose another day while our developers uninstall the RTM and go back to the Beta if we want to get any work done. This is ridiculous.
2007-11-26T13:52:16-05:0021816http://forums.silverlight.net//p/6850/21816.aspx/1?Re+Silverlight+tools+for+Visual+Studio+2008+Orcas+RTMRe: Silverlight tools for Visual Studio 2008 (Orcas) RTM
I read this post too late myself and installed RTM. I tried to reinstall Beta 2, but it threw an error on installing the framework 3.5 step (although I previously uninstalled everything installed by the RTM through add/remove programs, including 3.5)

Was anyone else in the same boat and have some hints? I unfortunately do not have the exact error log message on me, but I can update tonight.

Thanks!
2007-11-26T14:46:06-05:0021852http://forums.silverlight.net//p/6850/21852.aspx/1?Re+Silverlight+tools+for+Visual+Studio+2008+Orcas+RTMRe: Silverlight tools for Visual Studio 2008 (Orcas) RTM

samsp

For those who are not aware, Visual Studio 2008 shipped this morning.
