Upgrading from Silverlight 2 to Silverlight 3

Hello,

Since Silverlight 3 was released I'm thinking about upgrading to that version.

How should I do the upgrade? Should I uninstall all the development environment I have (Silverlight 2 Tools for VS, Silverlight 2 Toolkit) and install everything then? Is there a page where I can see a guide for doing this?

Yes, you need to uninstall all the tools related to Silverlight 2. Just keep Visual Studio 2008 SP1 or whatever you are using. Than after restarting system, install tools for Silverlight 3 development and it will work.

Hi,

There is no need for checking videos and stuff. All you have to do is to remove the silverlight 2.0 tool and the 2.0 plugin from your control panel and install the silverlight 3.0 tools and 3.0 plugin from the following sites....

For 3.0 tools---> http://silverlight.net/GetStarted/

For 3.0 plugin--> http://silverlight.net/getstarted/silverlight3/default.aspx

To correct some misunderstandings: you do NOT need to uninstall the runtime or the SL Tools for VS package. When you install the newer version of SL 3 Tools for VS2008, it will automatically update your runtime, install the new SDK, and update your Tools package. The Toolkit, however, you will have to update manually.
