Since the update of the most recent Silverlight 5 , I can no longer view netflix videos on the PC in my bedroom. My other pc's work fine with the update.
It has been a few days, and I have searched through many forums for solutions and tried many but they all end up with the same result. I go to Netflix, pick the video I want to stream and the page either goes dark or retains the look of another tab I
have open and it hangs.
I have uninstalled and reinstalled Silverlight many, many times.
I used 2 different registry cleaners.
I have cleared my history, made sure it was enabled in manage addons.
Application storage is enabled for netflix in Silverlight.
I have netflix as a trusted site in internet options/security.
I tried Google Chrome and Firefox with same result.
My time and Date is correct on my computer.
All ended with same result. Streaming video will not load.
Finally I went to a restore point of May 1st (prob started around May 14th ).
This time when I went to the video I got Netflix error 2105 - upgrade to new silverlight.
When I tried to uninstall Silverlight I would get an error and the unistall would fail.
I downloaded a tool to force unistall, unistalled it cleanly and updated to new version of Silverlight and - back to same issue as before.
I am curious if with this newest install if the min system requirements have changed, and possibly my pc needs something upgraded to continue working.

Yes, it's an older pc but it has worked fine up to this point. It's sole purpose is to be our tv, which we watch Netflix and other streaming services (which all work fine). It's stripped down to the essentials just to watch video.
I dont want to buy extras for this pc if the result is the same.
The other thought I have had is the problem possibly another program/addon that I may be missing? Does the streaming video player need something besides Silverlight and a Browser to work now? Something that might be standard on new pc's that wasn't included
back in 2005.
Netflix is an online media service that gives subscribers access to thousands of movies. You have the option of ordering DVDs in the mail to watch and then you can mail them back using a pre-paid envelope. The most significant draw, though, is the option
to stream movies online. You just use your computer to locate the movie you want to view on the Netflix website, click on it, then sit back and enjoy. Additionally, you can also use applications to log into Netflix and stream movies on an Xbox 360, a Nintendo
Wii or a PS3. The applications are provided within the console menus by Microsoft, Nintendo or Sony, respectively.
Microsoft Silverlight
Silverlight is a Web-based, media-focused technology from Microsoft. It's free, and after you install it you can view Silverlight applications present online. There are all kinds of uses for Silverlight, including animations and presentations within a website.
Silverlight is compatible with most major Web browsers and with many mobile devices.
Netflix and Silverlight
Netflix uses Silverlight to create an interface for its videos, and it uses Silverlight to stream the video content itself. This means that if you want to watch movies online with your computer, you must have Silverlight installed. The download for Silverlight
doesn't cost you anything, and you can find it at the Microsoft site in "Resources." If you use a gaming console to stream Netflix movies, you don't need to install anything beyond the Netflix application itself.
PC Requirements
These are the cumulative PC requirements for Microsoft Silverlight and Netflix. The version numbers you see here indicate minimum requirements, so if you have a newer, non-beta version, it will still work. You need Windows XP Service Pack 2, Windows Vista
or Windows 7, and you'll need to use Internet Explorer or Firefox for your web browser; other options like Safari and Opera are not compatible. Google Chrome is not specifically supported by Netflix, but Silverlight is compatible with Chrome so you can use
Netflix with it. You should have at least a 1.2-gigahertz processor and 512 megabytes of RAM. Your Internet connection speed should be at least 1.5 Mbps; you'll need 3.0 for higher-quality videos.
Mac Requirments
These are the cumulative Mac requirements for both Microsoft Silverlight and Netflix; version numbers indicate minimum requirements, so if you have a newer, non-beta version, it will still work. You need an Intel-based computer with at least OS 10.4.11 and
Firefox 3 or Safari 3. Google Chrome is not specifically supported by Netflix, but Silverlight is compatible with Chrome so you can use Netflix with it. You'll also need at least 1 gigabyte of RAM. Your Internet connection speed should be at least 1.5 Mbps;
you'll need 3.0 for higher-quality videos.
Thank you. Where did you find these and did you notice if they have been updated since the last release (New netflix viewer @5/14/12 + Silverlight upgrade)?
"You'll also need at least 1 gigabyte of RAM."
I have 1 gig, so the new updates may of pushed this requirement up and getting some extra ram might fix my issue.
I have 3 other pc's which still run netflix fine and all have 2+ gigs of ram, the ram is different so I can't take ram from any of them to test this but I can take ram out of one of the other pc's and see if I get the same issue.

Besides, please also check below link which contains silverlight content and check to see if the silverlight content will be loaded successfully. This will help to identify if this is caused by silverlight installation or Netflix website side.

Hi Always_Trouble,
How is your testing?
Besides, please also check below link which contains silverlight content and check to see if the silverlight content will be loaded successfully. This will help to identify if this is caused by silverlight installation or Netflix website side.
http://www.microsoft.com/silverlight/case-studies/
If content of above link can be loaded successfully, please check with Netflix support for recent update of system requirement of Netflix website.
