• Using Silverlight as front end 4 desktop applications

I'm currently working on a small projects which needs a graphical user interface, I recently noticed, that my program also works on Mono without an interface. Since it was originally planned for the Win OS I planned to utilize WPF as the front end technology. WPF obviously does not work on LINUX or MAC, so I was wondering if I could use ...
  • Re: SilverLight 3 vs .Net 2 Drawing 2D

    1) Yes, because Silverlight utilizes multiple cores it's software rendering capabilities are very fast, more than enough for simple UI stuff, but software rendering just doesn't cut it in graphically intense situations, regardless how many core's you have. 2)Partially, Silverlight does have limited hardware capablities, I say ...
  • Re: Re: Better Hardware acceleration in SL 4 ?

Thanks for your help, I skipped through the changes and must admit, remarkable things have been added in this release, unfortunately hardware acceleration for common usage is still stuck in the dark ages :(

  • Re: Re: Silverlight 4 Wishlist
Flash had already been pigeonholed into a world of tunnel-visioned idiocy. Trying to make Silverlight into a game development platform would run the risk of doing the same.
Currently Silverlight's only purpose besides creating RIA's is flickering banner ads and pacman games just like flash, ...
  • Re: Re: Silverlight 4 Wishlist

I'm sorry, I didn't want to offend anybody. My apologies if it sounded that way. The point is: A WPF 3D Environment may suite you, but it doesn't suite the game sector at all. So here's the question, implement a new feature that helps one side a lot and leave the rest standing on the shores, or implement a feature were ...
  • Re: Re: Silverlight 4 Wishlist
Hi Krasshirsch I don't think you are correct to say that 3D is primarily a tool for developing games.
This is a very subjective view, I never said it is the only, but we could argue for days 'bout that ... Nevertheless, if you want to venture beyond displaying a handful of static 3D ...
