Note though, that this is what happens each time I try to install Silverlight; I am not trying to install .NET - it just somehow has some weird linkage to it, as if it "calls" .NET as part of the Silverlight installation process.

The only things that have been installed are those which were automatically done so by Windows / Microsoft Update, which I assume would "know" what needs to be installed to make Silverlight (or whatever else) work properly.
