At the top of every forum is a "View Options" link. Click that to expand it, and in there you will see a "Mark All Read" button. Click this, and all posts in the forum will be marked as read for you.

The site launched on April 30, 2007. There would only be one day's worth of posts published before May 1, 2007, and I can see posts from April 30, 2007 when I search.

I agree with KSleung that this is a browser issue. I have also seen this sort of behavior on other sites. Forums.silverlight.net uses the Silverlight logo as its favicon:

Yes, I am familiar with the Stack Overflow website. What isn't clear is what you mean by seeing the icon in these forums. Can you please give a URL, image links, or something to describe what you mean in more detail?
