That's right, in order to install and run Silverlight Latest version, you must Uninstall all its Previous version.

I think you may really need to upgrade to Beta 2 version, It's more stable and better.
You need to upgrade now, even if, some of your Controls built in Beta 1 might not work properly in Beta 2, but you still can convert and do some little change.
I don't think Silverlight has the trial version.
