Uninstalling KB949325 worked. However be prepared to find your original VS2008 disk to uninstall it.

Confirm that .. Needs the VS 2008 disk.Is there a work around ?

I can only speak to my own experince. I had to find the darn disk or it would not uninstall the darn KB949325. I found the disk and it uninstalled and then the silverlight_chainer.exe installed and all is good.

 

I am having the same problem. Can't uninstall KB949325. And I don't have the disk as I downloaded the file. 

Perhaps you can download and burn the trial version to disk and use that:
