I am using OS X 10.5.5, Intel Core Duo Processor. I installed Silverlight to watch movies on Netflix but when I go to play it shows just a black screen, and shows done in the status bar. I tried the other silverlight applications on this site with the
same problem, just shows the backround nothing else. To make sure it's not a connection issue I was able to install silverlight on my imac and it works perfectly.
To try and fix the problem I removed the silverlight plugin from \\library\internet plugins\ then closed the browser (I get the same issue with firefox 3.0 or safari) and emptied the recycle bin. I then removed the original install download, then rebooted
and re-installed. I still get the same issue.
Any idea on how to fix this one?
**EDIT**
Looks like I am not the only one with this problem:
Netflix has an video program you launch from their site, and install from there.
there are hackers trying to misinform people about what software is needed to watch netflix, in an effort to get their own stuff installed, perhaps you read something they put out there.
Hello, to check if it's a Silverlight problem or a problem with the Netflix web site, can you see some small animations on this web site's header navigation bar? Can you view any applications in the
show case page?
shanaolanxing - I'll transfer to the Windows Azure team, and will have limited time to participate in the Silverlight forum. Apologize if I don't answer your questions in time.
I checked many of the demos in the showcase and none of them worked. It did the exact same thing. The netflix guy and I came to the conclusion it was silverlight in general when we tried viewing the silverlight video on the olympics closing ceremony.
I tested the silverlight on this page by clicking on the showcase links on the main page (the ones at the top). Just now I click on your link, and when clicking on any of the thumnails, I click view now, and nothing happens. So I can see the thumbnails,
but when i get the small preview and click on them nothing happens.
Have you tried the font suggestions in this thread?

Silverlight requires certain fonts to be installed in your HD/Library/Fonts folder. If you don't have these, or have moved them around, you will receive the error you are describing.
I copied all the arial fonts from my wife's imac (never messed with her fonts) and I am still getting the same problem. I tried deleting all my arial fonts, then copying them over. I tried rebooting. I still get the exact same issue. I even tried copying
all her fonts over and replacing the fonts I had, this did not work either.
I am experiencing the exact same problems with netflix and have also gone to the link suggested in the forum and had the same problem you have. i can view the icons but can not open them. Every time I try to use netflix, i get a black screen and have to
Control alt delete to end the process. Netflix has NO solution other then the response... well, it is still in Beta stages. Have you yest found a resolve? (I am running on Vista).
