"MS.Internal.Silverlight.Host.RuntimeInterop" error when trying to load the VS2008 internal preview

    Sep 29, 2008 04:17 PM | LINK

    hi,

since im using Silverlight 2 RC0, i get this errormessage instead of the preview of the xaml file

no idea whats wrong, cause there are no further info

the debugging in a browser works nicely, everything is shown where it should be and looks like that, its just the preview itself (dont know if its called that way in english, since thats not the language im unsing in VS)

    greetings

Can you double check the installed versions of the Silverlight runtime and SDK and post those here?

That wasn't quite the information I was looking for.  I was looking for the Silverlight Runtime and the Silverlight SDK versions, not the VS versions.  However, I re-read your first post and noticed something:

(dont know if its called that way in english, since thats not the language im unsing in VS)

The Silverlight 2 RC0 has only been released for English so far, and the chainer should have caught the language difference.  How did you install the RC on your machine?

Also, the versions you describe above are not the correct versions for RC0, which leads me to believe that it did not, in fact, get installed.

    and installed:

sp1 for VS, silverlight_chainer (silverlight tools in my language) >>here is the problem...<<, new expression blend and the RC0 development runtime

now i got it ... theres no RC0 version available in my lang so i cant use it yet in VS itself..

If your project is already deployed on the web and needs to be updated for the final release of Silverlight 2, you could install the English version of Visual Web Developer Express and install the English Tools RC0 on that and then just uninstall all of the English packages when your language comes out.

The problem is an incompatabilty between the runtime in the Silverlight chainer download which contains tools, sdk and runtime and the Silverlight runtime plug-in download from the microsoft website.

If you install Silverlight runtime which is in the chainer download you do NOT get the error BUT if you install the plug in separately not the one in the chainer download but the one on the website it causes the error.

The problem is if you do not install the plug-in from the web site (just keep the one in the chainer) you get the 'Install Silverlight" message everytime you try to run.  So we are in a catch 22 situation.
