Uninstalling KB949325 worked. However be prepared to find your original VS2008 disk to uninstall it.
Confirm that .. Needs the VS 2008 disk.Is there a work around ?
I can only speak to my own experince. I had to find the darn disk or it would not uninstall the darn KB949325. I found the disk and it uninstalled and then the silverlight_chainer.exe installed and all is good.

Perhaps you can download and burn the trial version to disk and use that:
I managed to install it. Now when I start VS and try opening an existing Silverlight project, I get:
Package Load Failure
Package 'Microsoft.VisualStudio.Silverlight.SLPackage, Microsoft.VisualStudio.Silverlight, Version=9.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=b03f5f7f11d50a3a' has failed to load properly (GUID =
{CB22EEOE-4072-4AE7-96E2-90FCCF879544}). ...
and when I try creating a new Silverlight project, I get:
Could not load type 'Microsoft.VisualStudio.Web.Silverlight.IVsSilverlightService' from assembly 'Microsoft.VisualStudio.Web.Application, Version=9.0.0.0, Culture=meutral, PublicKeyToken=b03f5f7f11d50a3a'
Thanks

To those who have had installation trouble, I am trying to understand to the source of the problem. If could answer a few questions (you can email me at
amdullar @ microsoft.com ) about your installation environment, that would be great...
What version of Visual Studio 2008 are you using? Standard, Professional, Team System, Trial?
What languages did you have installed? C#, VB, C++?
Did you have the Visual Web Developer feature for Visual Studio installed?
Had you previously installed Silverlight Tools Beta 1?
Did you have Visual Studio SP1 Beta installed?

Thx. If I run Daemon Tools Lite to have a virtual CD/DVD drive, I don't even have to burn a DVD.
