Silverlight not recognized in Firefox 3

I posted this before but no one had an answer, maybe someone has figured this out:

I have two PC's where I have installed Silverlight 2. In IE 7 Silverlight works fine. When I try to use Firefox I get the "Click to Install" image link.

One PC is running Vista 32 Ultimate with Firefox 3.0.1, the other Vista 64 Business with Firefox 3.0.5.

There are no errors. I have tried re-installing the plug-in. Disabled all add-ons and extensions in Firefox except for Silverlight, WPF Add-ons and the .Net Framework assitant extension.

I am not checking my own development. I am just going to any site that has Silverlight in it, i.e. http://www.microsoft.com/silverlight/overview/default.aspx or

http://silverlight.net/Showcase/ (in this one it just has an image saying "Loading Showcase...")

If you're running Firefox in 64-bit mode then you won't be able to run Silverlight. Silverlight only supports 32-bit browsers right now. You should get the same behavior if you run IE in 64-bit mode (it is a seperate link in the start menu).

In Firefox go to tools -> Add-ons. In the Add-ons window click plugins. You should see Silverlight listed as Silverlight Plug-In 2.0.31005.0 and make sure it isn't disabled.

The version is the important part. Does it match?

Also, I'd be curious to what you get at this page: http://www.microsoft.com/silverlight/resources/install.aspx

The version is the one that you mentioned. Navigating to that link says that "You are ready to use Microsoft Silverlight", "The latest Version of Silverlight 2 is installed, version Silverlight 2 RTW (2.0.31005.0).

Any other suggestions as to what I can check? By the way I never installed the Beta version in the Vista 64 machine before installing the current Silverlight version.

Re: Silverlight not recognized in Firefox 3

It took me a few times of "wtf" to figure out it was my 64 bit that was blocking the silverlight install.

Have any idea when it will support a 64 bit?
