I'd recommend re-installing the Silverlight 2 runtime. I'm not sure why you're having this issue. Silverlight 2 is working fine for me in both IE 7 and Firefox 3. It could just be a faulty installation.

I'm able to watch the videos on http://channel9.msdn.com/ in IE7 without any errors. Perhaps it would help if you first completely uninstall the Silverlight runtime and then try to re-install it.

The problem may also be related to your installation of IE7. My guess is you could have some third party plugin installed or some other software that is actually the cause of this problem. You should take a close look at what you have installed on your machine and try to figure out what is causing this problem.

I forget to tell that version before this- (RTW) everything worked perfectly with Silverlight but when I upgraded to this last version I get this errors...

There must be some issue with your particular installation since this is not a common problem. It seems that most other users are not experiencing this. You should take a close look at what you have installed that may be the real root of the problem.

I just asked you to tell me why I can't see http://silverlight.net/Showcase/ in IE7, it askes me to install silverlight, but I can see in IE7 for example other Silverlight sites like:
http://all-access.cbssports.com/player.html?code=nd
I just know that I got this error when I installed latest RTW version of silverlight...Before that I didn't have this problem..

I'm not sure what's going in in this case. Take a look at this article as it may help:

I'll check,that is very promising...

"When accessing some/all silverlight sites, the silverlight installation keeps prompting even though the clients have installed the LATEST version of silverlight". If you ever got into this problem, the ways below emerge as a better solution:
Try to run IE7 as administrator then access the silverlight site. If the site is displayed correctly, it shows that you may have had a WPF/E CTP installed previously, thus running IE7 as administrator makes Silverlight content render properly. The problem is likely a stale Typelib regkey in HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT. The CTP has been known to leave behind stale Typelibs for version 0.8 and 0.8.5.0. The correct Typelib version for both the 1.0Beta and 1.1Alpha is 0.90.
If you are comfortable editing your registry then you may choose to manually delete the old Typelib regkeys:
HKCR, Typelib\{283C8576-0726-4DBC-9609-3F855162009A}.8HKCR, Typelib\{283C8576-0726-4DBC-9609-3F855162009A}.8.5.0
If Silverlight in IE7 doesn’t work as administrator but you may have had a CTP installed previously you might also see if you have either of these keys under HKLM. If so, you can delete these two as well.HKLM, SOFTWARE\Classes\Typelib\{283C8576-0726-4DBC-9609-3F855162009A}.8HKLM, SOFTWARE\Classes\Typelib\{283C8576-0726-4DBC-9609-3F855162009A}.8.5.0
THIS SOLUTION IS NOT WORKING FOR ME!!!!!!!!!!

Just to confirm: are you running the 32bit version of IE on a 32bit or 64bit OS?
(Silverlight is not compatible with 64bit IE on a 64bit OS)

Hi Marko,
Would you please reinstall all the Silverlight related component? Please take a look at my reply on this thread.
Best regards,

There are several forums on this subject. I have tried everything to no avail. Even if I uninstall version 2 and go back to version 1, it no longer works, except for certain pages, which I think must be RTW 2.0 created. These pages work for me.
http://dracones.members.winisp.net/akweb/akphotopage.htm
http://www.mobiform.com/demos/silverlightnet/mobiformdemo.htm
These do not:
http://www.microsoft.com/en/us/default.aspx
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/search.aspx?displaylang=en
Anyone else just partially working? A few posts up, someone said that if he uninstalled and reinstalled, it would work one time and then he would have to repeat the reinstall. That does not work for me. Sorry that I don't have any more answers.

I am experiencing the same problem of Silverlight working in Firefox but not in IE7.
The two pages that worked for you, don't work for me either though.

How about your problem now? Did you fix it? Did you do the steps as I said on my reply? Please let me know the result.

I am another that has issues displaying Silverlight sites in IE7 but, not in Firefox. I have read indications there may be a conflict with the AVG free version. If AVG is the issue, is there a work around for this?

I thought I had checked before but, my issue was the Silverlight add in was disabled in IE.

Morning Marko,
Could you try my post over in: http://silverlight.net/forums/t/51137.aspx and see if that works? Me and a friend have has some success getting PCs working in IE7 and IE8.
(If it works can you let me know?)

trobin77b: Tools --> Manage add ons --> Enable or Disable Add-ons --> (Enable Silverlight in disabled section) This worked for me ! The interesting thing is that uninstalling silverlight has apparently not removed it fromt he list of previously disabled addons.

HiI think silverlight installation is not proper on your machine. Also make sure that you have SP1 for VS 2k8 installed.I would recommend Go to http://silverlight.net/GetStarted/ and install again SL tools and runtime.

After trying everything else posted on the forum, with all of it unsuccessful, the link that Quil posted finally worked for me
http://silverlight.net/forums/t/51137.aspx
I followed instruction set 1 because I did not want to grant those permissions to everything in the Class registry.
Here are my particulars. I have Vista Ultimate with SP1 built in to the install DVD. I have Visual Studio 2008, SP1 and I had The Silverlight developer kit 2.0, the Silverlight Toolkit 2.0 and Expression Blend 2.0 all installed.
Thanks, Quil. I have been having to set Firefox as my default browser when developing in Silverlight.

New Report. I just installed the new Silverlight Tools 2.0 (10-27-2008) and it killed the add-in for IE 7 again. It also installed the SDK 2.0. I uninstalled both of them and it is still broken. Drat, I was so happy an hour ago. I'll have to go through that whole regedit procedure again and just forget using the new Silverlight Tools. If Expression Blend kills it a second time, I am going to just blow my B&$%# out. This is the most frustrating Microsoft bug ever.

Total success. This time I followed the second short procedure at http://silverlight.net/forums/p/51137/143551.aspx#143551. I made one other change; I stayed logged in as full Administrator and installed Silverlight Tools/Silverlight 2.0 SDK and Expression Blend 2 (plus SP1) under that account. Then I logged back in as my everyday user and IE 7 Silverlight add-in still worked.
