The link provided at "Get Started" does not work. When I click on it it translates to http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyId=c22d6a7b-546f-4407-8ef6-d60c8ee221ed&displaylang=en, but all I get is a German "Page not found" page, which will then redirect me to Live Search. What's going wrong? I searched the web and found the link above on several websites, but it seems to be broken. Where do I get the Silverlight Tools?

The Link you have provided is the same as stated in first post. Maybe it is a local problem (Germany?). Can anyone from Microsoft please take a look at it?

If I go from http://www.microsoft.com/silverlight/resources/tools.aspx and try it is working... Strange. Cause the url is same as here. Hmmm

For a moment, I thought it worked... I tried the link again and the download page appeared. But after I clicked the Download button, I ended up at the same "Page not found" page. Really strange and annoying!

I'm getting the same issue - come on Microsoft, a link to an application isn't that hard!

Same behaviour here.
I uninstalled the previous Silverlight Tools and now I can't download the new version.
Hopefully I hope I still have the old installer somewhere.
It's sad to see how hard it is to have a file up on a server these days.

I'm in a world of hurt now. I uninstalled and now I get an error installing silverlight for the reasons stated prior. Is anybody at MS looking into this. Right now I am done unable to do any work.

I'm having the same problem. I've tried the links from many places, but it keeps going to the same place. I contacted MS support and they blamed it on Vista. I tried it from an XP machine, no luck. Tried it from IE, FireFox, Chrome, no luck. A 404 is a pretty self explanatory error. Why can't they get the file up there?
Thanks,~Jeff

This is ridiculous. MS should provide us some feedback indicating the site is down and currently being fixed. Has anyone heard whether they have acknowkedge there is an issue and secondly whether something is being down about it.

Doing a little research it seems like it may be a problem with Limelight networks which is probably the CDN for Microsoft. Seeing as how some people can get to it and other cannot, the file probably has not propagated to all of the servers or there is a problem with their servers (more likely given the 404). Since it seems to be working from some people and not others, I suspect it is a geographical issue. For those of you who are working, where are you located? I am in Atlanta, GA for what it is worth. If we can find out where it IS working, then we may be able to find a public proxy in that area to route through and trick the Limelight servers to redirecting us to a server with the file. If anyone wants to try to contact Limelight, their support number is 866-544-4830.

Not working in LA (PDC08) either.
I called the LimeLight folks and reported the problem and it looks like they fixed. I just downloaded and install it fine.

I took the ENU download and details page down last night around midnight PST because we were having trouble with the server caching the RC (.143). I re-published around 12:30. It should have propogated to all servers within an hour, but there is a problem and I am contacting our download center about it.
Since some servers do have the update, for the time being, I would recommend making multiple attempts to download and hopefully you will hit a working server. The direct download is: http://download.microsoft.com/download/2/4/2/242ffd75-ddbc-4349-8c72-3f93aedfd186/Silverlight_Tools.exe
I am really sorry about this inconvenience

Download is not working for me either.
I was able to download the file Silverlight_Tools.exe from another link and when I run it, the Installation Wizard gets stuck on the download section without any download progress bar.
Looks like there is an issue with the download server.

I was able to follow Amy D's personal link - download the tools - and operate the setup without further issues. It is excruciatingly slow - but then this is msi. Took about 45 minutes and when it finished I could upgrade the project and things are once again working. I did have problems with 2008 SP1 until I retrieved the ISO and used it rather than the web installer. Not MS's finest hour.

Again, I am really sorry about the problems with the download center. They have told me that the believe the download has been propagated to all the servers and you should be able to download for the official page now.

I was able to download, thanks.
But now the installation wizard is getting stuck on the first step which the Download part where it trys to download the files for installation. Error after a while is inupt parameter missing or something. Looks like it is unable to reach the server where the files reside.

There may be a problem (due to network connectivity, or something) with downloading the latest developer runtime. You could take a look at Jimmy's blog on doing an offline installation: http://blogs.msdn.com/jamlew/archive/2008/09/28/silverlight-tools-tip-offline-installation.aspx
Or, another option is to...Download the developer runtime installer from:http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkID=119972Save the file (Silverlight.2.0_Developer.exe) to %TEMP%\Silverlight Tools RTWRun the tools installer (Silverlight_Tools.exe)
