Creating SL object - difference between JS, Object tag and Embed Tag

I've seen 3 different ways to create the Silverlight object, and I want to get a better idea of which is best in which situation. I think I understand the usage of the JavaScript method, but I'm at a loss when it comes to the Object vs. Embed tag. Is there a document that lays out the differences? If not, what is the difference?
