Trying to use MLB.TV

I am trying to use the MLB.TV Premium to watch a game and when I click on the 1.2Mb videostream link an error message pops up.

It sats Sliverlight error message.  ErrorCode:2203 , ErrorType:RuntimeError ,  Message:AG_E_RUNTIME_SETVALUE , MethodName:Source.

I have no idea what is wrong. I have Sliverlight installed and everything is up to date.  All I want to do is sit and enjoy a ball game, can anyone help?

Have same message.  Was on with MLB people for @ an hour.   No fix.  They are supposed to call back.  We'll see.  If I get fix will put up here.  Call them at 866-800-1275.

Maybe when they get overoaded they'll work on it!!

Re: Trying to use MLB.TV

Exact same problem here.  I can still view the 400K feed, but with the extra you have to pay to get MLB.TV Premium, MLB should have worked out the kinks for the higher definition feeds before opening day.

Somebody at this forum: http://motownsports.com/forums/showthread.php?postid=1403152 apparently resolved the problem, but I tried the same thing he did and am still getting the error message.

Very frustrating, hopefully there's a solution soon.

Googling, etc. re: this thing, it seems there are a lot of people having a lot of issues. Is the "NexDef" plug-in part of the problem, too? I hope there's some communication by someone, somewhere...God forbid Congress should have to step in.

Re: Trying to use MLB.TV

I was using the old MLB media player all ST long with no problem and now cannot get it.  I have an old system (W98).  On the advice of MLB tech support I tried to install Silverlight but it will not install properly.  Silverlight does not show up in Add/Remove Programs.  Can I just delete silverlight.exe?  Does anyone have a reg hack to uninstall Silverlight?  According to the MLB FAQ the old ("classic") media player option is available but this option does not appear when I bring up the new media player.

I've called MLB tech support and also emailed them.  I thought it was just my old system that was causing the problem; it's interesting to hear that people with more up-to-date computers are also having trouble.  Brilliant idea for MLB to spring this on the unsuspecting public right before opening day.  Way to screw up the national past-time ....

Re: Re: Trying to use MLB.TV

Deleting the .exe command will not remove Silverlight from your computer. Maybe a third party ap can help?

I got an email address of an MLB guy off a press release re: the NexDef 1.2MB stream that was happening this weekend and told him about the issue, along with a printscreen of the 2203 ErrorCode that appears (I assume some have seen that??). Maybe that will get into the right hands. Maybe there's a conflict between Silverlight and NexDef occuring?

Re: Re: Trying to use MLB.TV

Hi all, We are aware of the issue and are actively working on debugging it now. Thanks for the comments - i'll post here for you all as soon as we have a resolution. We believe this to be an edge case related to the nexdef/autobahn installer. Those of you who are experiencing this problem either have a very aggressive local firewall on your machine, or for some reason the autobahn install failed. We appreciate your understanding as we work through it - and actually may contact some of you if possible regarding testing fixes as we work through it. Thanks, Justin Shaffer mlb.com

Just curious is this only affecting Vista (like me) or is it XP too?

Re: Trying to use MLB.TV

I am using W98 and a neighbor is using XP and we are both having problems.

Justin(@mlb.tv?) -- may I suggest that you allow users to select Silverlight or the classic media player when we log in?  That way those who are having trouble with Silverlight can still access games while you troubleshoot, and those for whom Silverlight is working can still get the new player.

Come on, dude.  With all due respect to A's, Red Sox, Nats, and Braves -- opening day starts today.  Give us some baseball!

Re: Trying to use MLB.TV

First off, thanks Justin, for communicating that MLB.TV is at least aware of this issue and working on a fix.

To RGPR, try restarting your computer and clicking only on the 400K feed, not the 800K or 1.2MB.   I can still get the 400K feed this way, and while's it's not perfect, at least I don't have to go baseball-less on opening day.

Re: Trying to use MLB.TV

Thanks, Chris, but I've only tried the 400K feed as I only have the regular MLB.TV service and not the premium service.

Last time I tried (using IE6) the media player came up with an image on the left side that read "Use the Original Mediaplayer" but there are no links to take me to the original.  According to the MLB FAQ there should be an icon for "Classic Media Player" in the upper right corner of the window, but it's not there.

This is killing me because MLB.TV worked all spring training, but went on the fritz on Saturday.

If anyone is interested there are number of MLB.TV threads on the mlb.com forum (http://www.forums.mlb.com/n/pfx/forum.aspx?webtag=ml-mlb&nav=search&q=mlb.tv).  I haven't seen any tech help stuff posted there yet but maybe something will come up.

Hope everyone else can catch the games they want even though I might not be able to get mine.

Let's go Mets!

Re: Re: Trying to use MLB.TV

For those getting the errorcode: 2203, try this:

Download autobahn

http://getautobahn.com/install

Then click on 1.2 stream you'll get a yellow bar on top, right click and allow it to change intranet settings.  Close window then click on 1.2 stream again and it should work.

BTW I'm clueless why this works, I just played around and happened to get it going this way.

Edit: Could be all you have to do is change intranet settings without all the other stuff.

Did you get that yellow warning bar about intranet settings? And did you allow it to change settings?

I did exactly what barry said.  I reinstalled autobahn, then the bar at the top of my browser asked if I wanted to enable intranet setting or something of the sort, I selected yes.  Next thing I know, 1.2M video :D.

Not really seeing a great difference in quality tho.

Re: Trying to use MLB.TV

I can get MLB.TV in 1.2M Party!!!

However Silverlight seems to want to play it in widescreen, meaning my non widescreen monitor gets a large black bar at the bottom. then when the game starts I get black bars down the sides, meaning I get about 1/2 the screen filled. Always got a fullscreen last year Crying

Re: Trying to use MLB.TV

Well isn't that interesting... I have a widescreen, and Silverlight puts the video in non-widescreen format.  So I get black bars down the sides Angry The thing that really gets to me though, is after uninstalling silverlight to use the old media player, I find that the old media player no longer has the ability to be resized.  I'm soooo not pleased Crying

I too uninstalled Silverlight because it will not let you use full screen on a second monitor.  Using the old player, Try right clicking in center of image. then click zoom, then full screen.

Well I was having the same problem but now seem to have resolved it. I went to the Autobahn site (makers of mlbnextdef) and downloaded there viewer even though they said I had it installed (click on "download autobahn" under step 1) and when you are done the nextdef icon will be replaced by the green autobahn icon and should be working after that.

http://mlb.getautobahn.com/install

Hope this helps!

I still get the error. after installing it again, But i can just hit ok on the error box then hit  MLB.TV 1.2M on the mlb media player and it plays.

i think the widescreen issue may just be how the game is broadcast. Most of them should be in widescreen though.

Re: Trying to use MLB.TV

Same problem here - it plays widescreen (16/9 aspect) on a regular (4/3 aspect ) image.  As a result it is stretched horizontally and every body looks fat and the ball looks like a football.  MLB tech support doesn't understand the issue and keeps telling me its my display, but can't tell me how to fix it, which means they are passing the buck.  It makes full screen 1.2 m. streaming useless.

Re: Trying to use MLB.TV

I tried Silverlight and also could no longer get full screen on my TV that's hooked to my computer via an S-Video connection.  I had to uninstall it to use the old media player since I could no longer find a way to select the old player in the Silverlight window, something which could be done during ST.

With the old player as soon as I connected (@800K) the full screen automatically went to my TV like it always had in the past.

Trying to troubleshoot Silverlight's problem with the second monitor while MLB's servers crashed just when the Mets game was starting yesterday was really a test of patience.  Not being able to connect today to see the game archived due to more problems,......priceless!!

Re: Trying to use MLB.TV

I finally got it to work.  I'm running Vista with IE7.  It's definitely the security settings, since I had no problem getting this to work on my laptop with XP.  I went to Internet options - security and lowered the level to Medium (medim-high is the default).  When I reopened the player it prompted me to select "Intranet" settings.  After selecting this, and clicking on the 1.2 feed again it worked.  It must be a security issue as the MLB guy suggested.

I have had no problem loading the Silverlight program but the NextDef plug in (Autobahn), will not install, it stops about 60% through the install process.

I have tried downloading the Autobahn progam from their site and the same problem.

The people at MLB.com are scary inept no luck at all at this point.

Re: Trying to use MLB.TV

Well I finally got it to work, but not without some major annoyances.  Here are the steps that I took, hope they work for others until they can get this $120 product to finally work.

Uninstall all versions of Silverlight, MLB NexDef, and Autobahn.  Close all browsers. Install nexdef first, then SliverLight, I tried this with both 1 and the 2.0 Beta. Restart IE 7.0, and go to internet options.  Click on Trusted sites, and add in http://*.mlb.com. I did not have to alter any of the other Security Settings for Internet (Medium-high) or Local Intranet (Medium).  Now if you want to view it in IE 7.0, you will get three annoying pop-ups that you need to click Yes to in order to get it to work on IE 7.0. Launch a game from http://www.mlb.com.  If you get prompted at anytime with a message that states "The current Web page is trying to open a site in your trusted sites list. Do you want to allow this?" Now the 800k feed will start, click on the 1.2 and you will get prompted one more time, this time the feed will start............OR.....easier way,  is go to MLB.com in firefox after you make the security changes and the player will launch the 1.2 feed with no issues at all.

Vista - Home Premium

IE7.0/Firefox 2.0

Re: Re: Trying to use MLB.TV

I was able to see the two of them in the Add/Remove Programs. Click on installed date column and you will see the latest installed programs first. This is where I saw both Autobahn and NexDef, if you already have the two of them installed. You can verify that none of them are installed by going to the mlb page and trying to launch the 1.2 feed. It should say that you need nexdef and silverlight to continue.

Re: Trying to use MLB.TV

Thanks Mike for the information and I will try those steps when I get home tonight. To be clear, is this for people getting poor quality pictures or none at all? My problem, as a Premium subscriber, is that the feed is clunky and looks to be 400 speed. Quality is the same regardless of whether I click 400, 800 or 1.2 and much worse than last year's, 700. The staff at MLB.Com, if you can reach them, are very unhelpful and know little of their product. They were no help in finding a fix and the only 'problem' they admitted to was the small viewing area and large black space, which they are 'working on.' Sadly for my child, who loves the games, I may not be a $120-subscriber much longer if the quality does not improve.

Re: Trying to use MLB.TV

This workaround is if you get the error message 2203 when you try to launch the 1.2MB feed. When I launch that, it looks just fine, like the 1.2 should. This  also was only necessary on my machine running Vista.  My old laptop, with XP I did not have to jump through these hoops to get it working, downloaded NExDef and it worked.....I still have issues going full screen and displaying it on my TV, used to be able to get full screen on my Tv and now it is a pain to get it to work. Might just use by XP box to display it on the TV.

There tech support is horid, I tried to call them, then gave up since I was able to create my own workaround. $120 is quite a bit to not have it working and not getting any help from them.

Re: Trying to use MLB.TV

thanks to everyone here, i finally got a picture, but like you, paul1, i don't see any diff between 400, 800 and 1.2.  the feed is also very choppy, pixelates, etc.

at least you got someone @ mlb. in 4 separate calls to their product "support" line and 2+ hours on hold, i only spoke briefly to one live human being, who took all my info, then told me her system went down & she couldn't help me.  i replied that there didn't seem to be any system problems when mlb.com readily took my $119.95!  this def isn't worth the $ if they refuse to support their product!

rmc512, I'm not sure what to do next. I may try uninstalling silverlight and nexdef and then downloading them again for the heck of it. I'm supposed to get a call back from a tech tonight, which should be interesting considering the last person I spoke with at MLB.COM was a frazzled supervisor who hung up me after I asked to speak with someone more knowledgeable about the product. Their customer service is not exactly what you'd expect of a multi-billion dollar  industry.

Query for Vista users:

Are you using Home Premium, Business, or Ultimate?

Going over to some friends' house tonight to see if I can get MLB.TV on their system.  They have Vista Home Premium.  The MLB site lists only Business and Ultimate in their recommended Vista profiles.  But XP Home is also listed, so I don't see why Vista Home won't work.  And it sounds like a lot of people who have posted here have systems that fit the MLB requirements to a T and they still can't get the video streams.

Re: Trying to use MLB.TV

To those of you who say 1.2 or 800 is working, how clear is your picture? Is it TV quality? Is it as crystal clear as the DEMO on the overview page that entices people to buy it? Again, I'm on XP and getting a 400 quality picture on all three settings. The picture I get is not TV quality and nowhere near as good as last year's 700, which in my opinion was a pretty good feed.

Re: Trying to use MLB.TV

I have to say that other than the aspect ratio being out of wack the picture is pretty darn great, I had my laptop hooked up to my 42" lcd in my family room last night for the doggers/giants game and even my wife thought it looked great. I had 800 last season and it was ok but 1.2 seems to be a whole lot clearer!

I don't see why changing stuff on IE would affect Firefox but i tried it anyways. It still gives me the same error on firefox (2203) and IE7 still works perfectly. !.2 does look alot better than the 800 and the 800 is better than the 400.  When using firefox i can use 400 or 800. 800 is better quality than the 400.

I finally got mine to work, but only on IE 7.0, Vista Home Premium. I have a very fast cable connection and a decent video card hooked up to an HDMI input of my Philips 42 inch plasma and the picture is incredible at 1.2 meg. Still not quite HD quality, but fantastic looking nonetheless.

Re: Re: Trying to use MLB.TV

My problem with Silverlight and MLB is that it does not give me any streaming video until

I reload Silverlight and reboot the computer.  After that it will usually work until I leave MLB.com.

Then, when I come back, no streaming video in any resolution.  I do the reload and I'm back in business.

Like many of you I've spent hours with MLB tech support and tried all their suggestions.

I have Vista Home Premium with IE7.

Prior to Opening Day, there were no problems we watched the spring training games OK.

I currently have Vs. 2 beta1, but I've also tried Vs 1.   Have also loaded AC3 Filter.

Downloaded using both "run" and "save" does not to be any difference.

Anyone else have this problem?

Open IE go to internet settings, security, and add   https://*.mlb.com   to the trusted sites and it works.  I'm now enjoying 1.2 on my laptop which is hooked up to the 42 tv via an S video.   No need to delete, reload programs, etc. etc., this is all you need folks.!  Enjoy  MLB   GO BRAVES.  FYI I have VISTA home.

It worked once when as they were trying to figure out the probs. and he was using me to test (Matt, where'd ya go?) then back to the usual. Problems not solved. I have loaded as per others' recommends here on the post. That hasn't worked, mostly. I was able to get an archived game (800k) of Phillies vs. ? (sorry Phillies, etc. fans) of last night, but then would click over to another game and a "error" would appear and it would not load.

Still have not reinstalled NexDef since archived games don't seem to be in 1.2 anyway. So...again, is anybody else still struggling to get things going?? Anymore suggestions?

Re: Trying to use MLB.TV

Glad to hear somebody is getting good quality. I'm still not seeing a difference between 400, 800 or 1.2, and the picture is not close to the 2007 World Series DEMO. Spoke with a tech who said they are working on improvements, it's new technology, advised to be patient. All video was down around 10 last night and the message from MLB was they were "doing maintenance." Even while live games were going on? That's a new one. Puzzles me that some are getting the good feeds and others are not. I'm on XP.

Re: Re: Trying to use MLB.TV

Has anybody who is running Windows XP (I'm running XP Professional) been able to get MLB to work with Silverlight with the fullscreen going to a TV connected via S-Video to their PC?  With the old media player it's automatic - when I start a 400K or 800K stream I get a fullscreen picture on my TV.  This is a setting in my NVidia card's control panel.  But with Silverlight, it doesn't happen.  I called MLB support.  They said someone would call me back within 24 hours.  That was three days ago and I haven't heard anything from them since.  I have a feeling Silverlight isn't 100% compatible with Windows XP but if any of you have made this work, please let me know and if you did anything special to make it work.  Thanks!

Re: Trying to use MLB.TV

I didn't get a chance to run tests last night as I had hoped, but came across some info that hasn't been mentioned here so thought I would pass it on.

1.  There is an MLB.TV help thread at http://www.forums.mlb.com/n/pfx/forum.aspx?sr=y&msg=71952.1&nav=messages&webtag=ml-mlb

Note what is said in the initial post re Adblock in Firefox and Kapersky anti-virus.  What jumped out at me was a post by Ezra888 that says NexDef confilcts with SpySweeper, which is what we have.

2.  Came across this on Silverlight and Firefox: http://silverlight.net/forums/p/6156/18897.aspx

3.  On MLB.COM if you go to the Audio/Video link at the top of the page there's a new drop down with new instructions on how to download NexDef and Silverlight.

Hope this helps somebody.

Re: Re: Trying to use MLB.TV

I read here (http://silverlight.net/forums/p/8020/24981.aspx) that the SilverLight full screen problem on multiple monitors is a design problem.  I have the same issue.  (Although on Vista).  When running dual monitors, SilverLight will force the full screen image to the primary moitor.  As of now, I have not discovered a work around for this.

Re: Re: Trying to use MLB.TV

Check out th Arizona v Colorado game thajust started  It is in full 16:9, 1.2md high res.  To some extent, that 16:9 or 4:3 issue must depend on the feed from the broadcaster.  THe other two games this afternoon have been in 4:3.

MLB.com -- nothing works!!!

I am on Mac leopard, using firefox and cannot get mlb.com to work.  When I log in, I get a message telling me that the feed is loading, but eventually the status section on the bottom of the display, which contains the play, pause, volume controls eventually provides an "error" message and nothing happens.  I have yet to be able to watch a game at 400k or even listen to the radio feed.

Don't even bother calling mlb.com help line.  I was on hold for 30 minutes, at which point a human came on to tell me that they would take my name and number and call me back in 24 to 48 hrs.  Still waiting . . .

Any ideas?

Ps. I have disabled adblock plus in firefox and safari does not work either--same issue.

Re: MLB.com -- nothing works!!!

I feel your pain, I am on Windows XP, I can get it to run with the 800k stream, however, the 1.2m stream will not play due to the fact that I cannot get the NextDef plugin to install properly.

I get these two error messages:

Error opening file for writing:

C:\Program Files\Autobahn\swarmcast.dll

Click abort to stop the installation, Retry to try again, or Ignore to skip this file

 and: C:'Program Files\Autobahn\mlb-nexdef-autobahn.exe

Click abort to stop the installation, Retry to try again, or Ignore to skip this file

Customer service has been zero help as attested to in earlier posts.

Re: MLB.com -- nothing works!!!

 Darkshadows,

As one Met fan to another, I had the same problem.  I installed the Nexdef directly from Autobahn from here: http://www.getautobahn.com/install
It is the same thing, just from the provider.  I am running Vista, but it worked for me.  Give it a try.  LET'S GO METS.  (too bad we got rained out tonight, I was looking forward to watching John Maine pitch.)

Re: MLB.com -- nothing works!!!

Thanks I will try that again, I tried it earlier with the same problem.

I was all set for tonights game, it's rare when I can be home at a time to watch the Met's live when they are on the East Coast, oh well tomorrow against Glavine on Fox I guess if that's the West Coast feed.

Re: MLB.com -- nothing works!!!

Ok Guys, this is how I got it to work.....

1. Turn off any firewall software including windows firewall.(XP users, right click on you network connection and choose "change firewall settings" and then just turn it off for the time being.)

2. Uninstall the MLBNexDef or any autobahn software from "add/remove programs" in your control panel.

3. install autbahn software from http://getautobahn.com/install DO NOT use mlb.com's nexdef software at all until they get it fixed.

4. watch the games in 1.2 shazam!!

ohh yeah you can now turn back on your firewall. :)

PS. I just noticed that if you run Mosaic, after you install it or it does it's auto update......it reloads mlbnexdef.....just repeat steps 1-4 and everything will work again, even mosaic.

Good luck and go Braves!

Re: Re: MLB.com -- nothing works!!!

I've solved the problems but not with Silverlight.

Yesterday I worked with Silverlight and NexDef, trying all the suggestions above and finally got to the point where nothing worked and I couldn't get any streaming video.

Uninstalled all of it including AC3 (Which MLB Tech Support told me to load.)

Installed Mosaic and instantly got the pictures and all the features.

So I am happy now, Mosaic seems to have solved all the problems.

My computer: Gateway with 3 GB Rom, Vista Home Premium, and Verizon FIOS

internet connection.

Thanks to all of you wonderful folks for the suggestions and the comfort of knowing

that you were working on our common troubles.

Re: Re: MLB.com -- nothing works!!!

Yesterday I uninstalled Silverlight and immediately got a better feed with the old media player than I had been getting using Silverlight. It looks like I'm getting it at 800 but at least it's not clunky like before. (Still not a complete widescreen on the game I watched). Based on some of the comments, I'm now going to try uninstalling Nexdef and then going to the autobahn site to install it. It looks like some people are able to get the 1.2 that way, which would be great.

I assume I'll also have to install Silverlight again? If so, should I to install it from somewhere other than MLB or does that matter?

Mosaic is another story and I haven't gotten that to work but I'm just trying to get the 1.2 feed for now.

Thanks for all the support on this site - much better than any provided by MLB.Com.

Re: Re: Re: MLB.com -- nothing works!!!

I can only come to one conclusion with all the workarounds that I have seen here int he past week.  My old XP laptop works fine using IE7.0, or Firefox.  And that is with Silver 1.0 or the 2.90 beta and the Nexdef plugin from MLB.com.  The issue for me is 100% for sure Vista Home Premium and some security settings.  I have all the same programs installed on the Vista Box, but cant get the 1.2 to work unless I add mlb as a trusted site, which is still a pain in the ***.  I am close to calling them, if I ever get through, to cancel my account and get my $120 back.

Re: Re: Re: MLB.com -- nothing works!!!

When I install MLB's nexdef or directly from autobahn, midway through installation I get an error message. If I click on 'ignore' it finishes installation without problem and says it has successfully installed. I'm wondering if this is the source of why I still get clunky video feeds? When I uninstall the program, as well as unintall Silverlight, I received a decent 800 stream on the old player.

Re: Trying to use MLB.TV

Some good news for those of us who have been getting no games whatsoever apparently because we have Windows ME or earlier editions (with 400K feed only). We cannot download Silverlight because it is incompatible with these earlier versions. We had been getting a page with a box in the middle containing a yellow arrow containing the words "Use the Original Mediaplayer". There was no link there, however. Clicking on that arrow, or anywhere else on the page, achieved nothing and there had been no way to start the embedded media player.

IT SEEMS THIS HAS BEEN FIXED.

1. When you log on there will be a pop-ip box instructing you to click on "OK" to go to the broadband page or on "Cancel" to go to the narrowband page. Click on "Cancel".

2. Click on the feed you want. You will see the same page you had seen now. HOWEVER, NOW, CLICKING ON THE YELLOW AREA, EITHER LEFT OR RIGHT, OPENS THE MEDIA PLAYER AND THE FEED STARTS. There are black bars on the top and bottom of the screen in any sizing but at least there's something to watch.

One further note:

If you have problems with choppy feed, follow the instructions in the technical FAQ:

For the Windows Media Player Series 9, use the following configurations:

Pull down the Tools menu of your Windows Media Player Series 9 (or right-click on the embedded video screen) and select Options. Note: In Windows Media Player 11, you will need to click on the bar above the image to get the pull down menus.

In the Player tab, be sure the "Download Codecs Automatically" box is checked.

Also, be sure the "Connect to the Internet (overrides other commands)" box is checked.

In the Performance tab, in the Connection Speed category, select Choose Connection Speed.

In the Connection Speed drop down menu, choose the speed proper to your Internet service. Note: For MLB.TV, the speed must be higher than 400K. If you do not know your connection speed, contact your Internet Service Provider.

Select the Network tab.

In the Streaming Protocols window, uncheck the top two boxes: Multicast and UDP. Leave the TCP and HTTP boxes checked.

Below in the Streaming Proxy Settings window, click on the HTTP protocol

Click Configure.

Change the Proxy Setting to Do Not Use a Proxy Server.

Click OK to the Configure Protocol window.

Click Apply.

Click OK to the Options window.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Next year it would be nice if MLB could do like everyone else in baseball and use spring training to teat and prepare so Opening Day isn't ruined for fans.

Re: Trying to use MLB.TV

Saw your message last night and followed the link.  His description was a little vague so I had to go through a few machinations before I was able to re-create his "miraculous " happening. When I did, it worked for me, too. I watched 1.2M for 30 minutes last night. I am waiting for MLB.TV to start streaming 1.2M again for this afternoon's games so I can run another test.  If it works, I will try to describe the procedure a little more accurately and then I will post it here since you are the person that started me off in the right direction.

4/10/08...I was unable to exactly recreate the events of the previous night, but was still ultimately successful. When using the "installation window" for NexDef, above the Run and Cancel buttons is a Name line and a Publisher line. Both are links. When I followed the "Name" link, I was sent to the Autobahn download webpage for an Autobahn accelerator.  As Spartan Valor did, I clicked to do the download (left side of page), but this time I did not get the information bar that required that I click on it to allow the "active x" to download. That "info bar" message said, words to the effect, that "intranet settings were disabled. By allowing the "active x " to download, I had to enable the intranet settings, which apparently is the opposite of the default. When I tried to recreate that situation the next day, all went as before except I could not get the information bar (possibly because I had clicked on "always allow" on my Norton Internet Security the night before when it prompted me to authorize the download).  Therefore, when I completed the NexDef installation the second day, the same error code 2203 came up and no 1.2M.  I then went to Internet Explorer Help and Support, typed in intranet settings in the search box followed the instructions for changing intranet settings.(Please Note: I am not  on any intranet). Basically, I went to;  "Tools...Internet Options...Security...Local Intranet...Sites". Then I unchecked the top box (the remaining three boxes automatically became checked). I clicked OK and then returned to the baseball site to try 1.2M again. It didn't work again.  I then closed everything out and restarted my computer and I have had nothing but successful 1.2M since.  Everything works fine (800K, 1.2M, Mosaic).

I am not a computer professional so I don't know what impact making those "intranet setting" changes may have had or what they might mean for the future, but I have seen no negative effects from it on any other programs, so, for now, I am a happy camper.  I have given this same info to my contact at Customer Support at MLB.Com and I am waiting for a response from him.

I hope someone else gets some help from this posting. I'm new to this "forums" business...this is my first...I called myself trying to reply to Chrisu26, but I'm not sure if I did that right.  Good Luck.

Re: Trying to use MLB.TV

Dear All,

When so many adjustments are needed to use MLB TV, it means there is crash (can be minor one) between Silverlight and MLB TV at this moment.  Such crash can be complicated by the daily anti-virus software updates also.

Best regards,

Re: Re: Trying to use MLB.TV

Thanks to all for the efforts each has put forth trying to resolve various issues. I posted early-on then tried the various suggestions others have been sharing over the days/weeks. All to no avail.

It seems Vista has been my issue. From this Angels fan to AncientMariner, sincere thanks. I started playing with those intranet settings and found that I got the 1.2 to work, finally, by following you a bit. I actually uninstalled NexDef and reloaded with Autobahn. I went to the "Local Intranet" settings and unchecked as you did. Still did not resolve but then checked the "include all sites that bypass the proxy server," all others left unchecked. It worked!

Let's all hope MLB will do some serious benchmarking next time before rolling things out.

Re: Trying to use MLB.TV

I've gotten my MLB TV to work, so maybe what I did can help someone.  I was getting two Silverlight error messages-- I managed to get 2203 and 2207 on various attempts.  I found that if I simply sign in to MLB TV before trying to view a game (as opposed to clicking on a game and then having the login screen pop up), I have no issues viewing at any resolution.  I have no idea why this works and I'd of course like it to work either way, but I'm watching baseball now.

Re: Trying to use MLB.TV

mksenn

Thanks for  your info on your successful method.  I decided to try it out even though I have been doing well with 1.2M since my earlier post...but first, I restored all my settings to what they were before I purchased MLB.TV Premium.  When I tried your method, sorry to say, it did not work for me...I was hoping for something simpler than  what I had been doing.  However, I was able to go back to my method by using a much more simple approach...now that I'm getting a little more practice.

What I am doing now successfully (for 1.2M) is as follows:

Open Internet Explorer ( I am not familiar with other browsers!)

Click on Tools...Internet Options...Security...Sites.

Uncheck the top box! (When I do so, the other 3 boxes are automatically checked)

Click "OK" ...then "OK" again.

Go to MLB.COM and use the websites' procedure for watching a game...( I'm assuming that you will already have installed Silverlight and NexDef) . "Mouse over 'audio/visual' and select watch/listen.

Select a game that is in progress by selecting one of the 3 video options (400K, 800K or 1.2M). Hopefully the video will appear shortly thereafter.  Move your mouse into the video area. You ahould see three boxes in the lower right side of the black area.  The largest to the right, when clicked on, should give you real, true to life 1.2M video and should fill the screen (fullscreen).  If you haven't been getting it before, you will notice a vast improvement over what you were looking at before!

Good Luck to all who try this...works great for me every time.  I also get great Mosaic.

( I feel compelled to say that there is nothing useful in the MLB Forums and since there is so little negative information there concerning the problems they are having with Silverlight, I am guessing that they are deleting negative comment (as well as not providing anything relevant themselves.)

I'm using a Dell XPS 710...Internet Explorer 7...Windows Vista Home Premium...Intel 2.4Ghz..

It might be a good idea to restart your computer after you make the  Security setting changes (or at least close, then restart your browser).

Re: Trying to use MLB.TV

Ah, I still remember the good ald days: last season. Start Firefox with addon MediaPlayerConnectivity, go to mlb.tv open a 700k stream, load it up on vlc and have a nice 700k stream fullscreen on my secondary monitor.

Now? Lots of crappy software, new version of IE, of WMP, Silverlight, Autobahn, nexdef, .NET 3 but it doesn't work now I get a crappy 400k stream on a memoryhogging mediaplayer.

Another customer gone. And I'm from Europe so I don't get to see any baseball but I'm not putting up with all that crap anymore.
