Silverlight 3 petition for Mike Taulty's screencasts

Little history before I get to the main point - I started learning Silverlight couple months ago. I was reading bunch of books, articles, blogs... and basically majority of the time spent with that was in vain because of content authors - there is difference between knowing something, and teaching other about that something.

Luckily, I've stumbled upon SL screencasts by Mike Taulty -> http://www.miketaulty.com/SLVideos.html. The shell for playing is litttle buggy, but the content is absolutly superb. So, after just two days of watching those screencasts I was ready to dig into serious SL development thanks to Mike and his fantastic teaching skills.

Now to the main point -> Silverlight 3 is coming out soon. Some videos on it already started popping out on Video page. But, quality of videos vary a lot, to say at least. I call upon anyone unbiased to first watch:

To be open - I don't have anything against Jesse Liberty or Tim Heuer. I appreciate their efforts to promote Silverlight. But, it is obvious that Mike could promote Silverlight 3 much better than, I dare to say, any other guy from Microsoft.

So, I'm writing this post in order to point to this issue and shamelessly gain attention of my fellow developers. I'm basically asking for Mike to create something like that 44 screencasts but for SL 3. I know that 44 is maybe too much... but heck... make it 5, 10 videos... anything that can be labeled "Learning new stuff in Silverlight 3 with Mike Taulty". Now, will he do this on his own (as he did with his previous screencats) or will Microsoft provide him with some kind of bonus (which I think would be appropriate) - that's up to Microsoft & Mike to decide.

I just know that I would really appreciate watching SL 3 screencasts made by him. If you agree with me, please think of this post as petition, and reply with your toughts or just simple "I agree".

Posts require moderation?

I've been trying to ask some questions about Silverlight 4 in the Silverlight 4 forum, but every time I create a new thread to ask a question, I get a message telling me that the forum in question requires moderation, and that my post needs to be approved by a moderator. That seems kind of strange by itself, but it's been several days and my posts still haven't been approved. Any idea what's going on with that?

How long it will take to add a new project to the showcase??

I submitted a new project to be added to the Showcase, www.colourproduction.co.uk more than a week earlier

But, it's not added yet. May I know the status please!!??

If it rejected, Could you please let me know the reason for that!!

Just thought I will add the same project again to remind you, but I am now unable to add the same project.

It will be useful if you let the users know of the status when added new projects through e-mail or through a link.

Showcase submission problem

Hello - I have tried multiple times to submit my site http://www.setpowersoftware.com to the showcase, but each time I have received an unhandled error. The first time the error was Critical Error:SiteUrls.config "the file containing the SiteUrl Data could not be loaded each subsequent time it was the more generic "oops" page. Thanks in advance! Error with Account Registration

Impact:

During this 2.5 hour maintenance window there will be 3 brief periods of downtime, estimated to be about 10 minutes, where users will experience trouble accessing the entire Silverlight.NET website.

Not appearing in showcase

Hi,

Our Silverlight web desktop social networking and bookmarking application http://www.sharetops.com has not yet appeared in the showcase. We submitted it around 8+ weeks ago and then again 2-3 weeks ago, but it hasn't yet appeared; despite seeing a number of showcase updates. Could you please let us know if our application was either accepted or rejected?

Get Started Page

Recently the Web Platform Installer was updated to include at least 2 of the things listed as things to install on the Get Started Page, mainly the Silverlight Toolkit and RIA Services. Expression Blend Trial might be included but I was just glancing through for the SL Toolkit and RIA to make sure they where installed.

user's name Profile/About/Name does not display

I think, user's name from Profile-About-Name should be displayed (if it is filled) instead of login name on UI if not, do we really need that field in user's profile?

forum subscriptions make current

How do I make current all of my subscriptions ?

I have a permanent backlog of unread threads and I just can't read them all.

Or just mark them read so I can start with current threads only.

In the old days, USNIX group readers you would mark all threads read and start from that point and stay current.

Not able to start a new theread in the Expression Studio forum

While in the Expression Studio forum (http://forums.silverlight.net/forums/21.aspx) I'm trying to create a new thread. When I do, I'm told:

Access Denied: Post Permission Denied

Either this forum does not exist or you are not allowed to post.

I've posted before (in the Programming with .NET - General forum) so I don't understand why I'm not able to post in the Expression Studio forum.

What's with the advertising along the bottom of the Showcase page?

Sometimes I worry about you guys... maybe it's me, but to see "Holley car insurance just $39!" inside an official Microsoft showcase website just blows my mind. Is it necessary to diminish the experience and overall quality of this otherwise incredibly inspiring and polished site with the same sort of ads I see on far, far lesser sites? This is Microsoft, right? Is it really necessary to ****** out every nook and cranny for advertising? Should I call up Steve and tell him to back off for you? Just let me know and I'll pick up the phone :)

Change user name

Hi, I made a spelling mistake in my user name and there's no option to change it in my profile settings.

There's also no option to delete the account, so I could recreate it with a new username.

The account is bound to a LiveID and there's no option to undo this, so I cannot simply create a new account with a correct user name and bind to the same LiveID. I don't want to create a whole new LiveID either!

Is there any possibility to change user name?

It seems that the new post should show up, but it doesn't appear that it does... Is this a known issue?

Why submitted site does not appear in showcase?

I know that not all sites will appear in the showcase. However I have submitted at least three components (although used on the same site) in August and none of them appeared in the Showcase.

Maybe all of them were cr*p , but ... maybe you should have send some notification at least - we reject your submission because it is ugly.

Do new posts now require review by moderators?

Search result entry links point to wrong posts

I just searched for "memory leak" in the forum (Sorted by: Newest First).

The forth entry displayed has the title "Memory Leak"; when I click on it I am displayed a post about "How to Display DataSet in Silverlight DataGrid".

It seems the forum data is corrupted in some way.

Bug in Quick Reply using Firefox

Hi, When I'm using Firefox and use the Quick Reply button, the area to type appears, but it's gray and I cannot edit it.
