For the system requirements for Silverlight 2, please visit here.

Just like Flash, Silverlight works depend on its plugin. Sorry for the inconvenience. Thanks for your patience.

Best regards,

I do wish the IE 8 team didn't feel IE 8 had to warn people about ActiveX controls.

Some of my relatives I envite to view my silverlight content are 60-70-80 years old. They are the ones that ask me, "Can I see this without installing anything"? Not much can be done about them. They have let the internet threats limit there ability to keep current and that's sad.

I tell them, "You can allways trust Microsoft applications. Microsoft developed the windows OS on your computer."

Re: silverlight on my web site and iis7

Jay,

Let me tell you my openion in this matter..

1. Win98 : Yes it is true that Microsoft is loosing some of its market share because of it. But the problem is to get it worked with Win98 they might have to add many lines of code that will eventually increase the size of the Silverlight and they will loose many lower connection speed users.

2. Linux: There is alpha version of Moonlight that currently supports Silverlight 2. I also wish my friends in Linux get to see silverlight too.

3. Has to install a new ActiveX: This can not be avoided. Silverlight is new and came up when flash is around for a long time so the user has to download Silverlight plugin.

silverlight on my web site and iis7

Ive been excited about silverlight and have some streaming video and animations on my web site at www.jayih.com

It seems some of my older friends are hesitant to install the plug-in or install anything knew on there computer. IE 8 dosen't help with the ActiveX warnings poping up when my homepage loads. My friends with linus based OS Firefox plugin named moonlight 1.1 will render my streaming media but not my animated banner and advertisement. the konqueror browser has no silverlight plugin. My sister says her computer has to be upgraded befor she can view silverlight. My second cousin twice removed accused me of trying to damage his computer sending him a link to my video page. I'm not sure if a modern processor and lots of ram and ram on the video card is neccessary to view the Silverlight content. It looks like it might be.

flash is in, excepted and runs on everything back to win 98 and 64 megs of ram. What can I do to get some of my old stuck in the past friends to go for Silverlight?

It looks like my web stats show my page views are way down since I put the silverlight content on my home page. I wonder just how many people are turning away because of it. I believe the younger folks are going for it with a no-fear attitude but some of the older generation is afraid to embrace the new techno...
