in my company we will build a Class Room application, so we are confused in using Flash or Silverlight to develop that.
we made one before but with Flash and Flash Media Server, I use Flash Media Server for streaming and managing connected users, calling functions on them -connected user = connected flash movie to Media Server application instance-.
now, we need to use Silverlight in this, but I don't know a replacement for Media Server with its features, not audio streaming only, but also server features such as manage connected users, close the connection, shared objects ans so on.
the decision of using Silverlight is depends in this server, so if any know any software that act with Silverlight as Media Server act with Flash please tell me.
thanks for ALL

"Windows Server 2008 raises the bar significantly on security, reliability, and robustness, and it is already considered to have excellent live and streaming delivery. New investments are being made in two key areas: IIS 7.0 and Windows Media Services.
* Windows Media Services (WMS): Under development for Windows Server 2008 to provide advanced streaming media support, enabling significantly more scalable live and on-demand broadcasts that build on the industry-leading availability, cost-efficiency, and uptime offered by Windows Server 2003 today. Silverlight joins the list of client platforms that can connect to and present WMS streamed audio and video as an integrated part of media-enabled applications for the Web, whether you are building a simple cross-platform, browser-based media experience or a rich interactive application (RIA) for the Web.
* IIS 7.0: For customers who prefer to use IIS for progressive download of media-enabled applications and experiences, Microsoft announces the IIS 7.0 Media Pack. The IIS 7.0 Media Pack reduces the cost of delivering downloaded content, such as media, thanks to bit-rate throttling. The IIS 7.0 Media Pack will be a free download for customers of Windows Server 2008 later this year."

Hi
I can probably help you here if you could let me know what is the exact kind of management of users you need. Could you let me know your detailed scenarios.
User management is possible with WMS and IIS so once I know your exact scenario I would be able to suggest.
Regards
Vishal

Hello:
First you need to understand the difference between Flash and Silverlight, advantages and disadvantages. Here is an article for you which describes both: http://www.smashingmagazine.com/2009/05/09/flash-vs-silverlight-what-suits-your-needs-best/
I can recommend you a FMS based solution I use for live video broadcasting with users management. Also what exactly do you need to manage from the backend ? See tikilive.org , it's a streaming media service with CMS, video and users management. You may download the TikiLIVE HD broadcaster for free and try it out. See me offline if you need assistance or any other questions.
