Wrong area, but there isn't a "general" or "about silverlight" forum section.
So, is there a roadmap or set time for when the Silverlight will be included in the Windows Updates?
I've had a root round on the MS sites and blogs but no luck, neither with Google too.
The company I work for love Silverlight ("pretty"), but their concern is that having Silverlight based features may be an issue, since many people will not have it installed and therefore will be prompted to download Silverlight yet "most people have Flash" and so will not be prompted if I developed the features in Flash instead.
I did suggest using Javascript to the notion:
if(user has silverlight) : load silverlight
else (if user has flash): load flash version
else (load image)
or
if user has silverlight: load silverlight feature, else load static image.
We can all see where its going, as most people use Windows based OS' with auto updates on, add Silverlight to updates = everyone can run Silverlight, which pwns Flash and its 'Click here to install Flash' option. Its just a matter of when.
[I don't like the idea of having to develop features in both Flash and Silverlight during the 'transitionary' period, I much prefer SL, especially since I'm a .NET dev, but management are having a hard time accepting SL.]

Well, I don't think Microsoft will be promoting Silverlight through the Windows Updates mechanism for legal issues. And if you think about it Silverlight isn't really an update to Windows as such.
But on the other hand yesterday BillG announced that MSN will be partnering with NBC and NBCOlympics.com will be delivered using Silverlight. Just imagine how it will drive the uptake of the plugin. Also MSFT is promoting Silverlight on microsoft.com (Alexa Traffic Rank 19). Even the video player on the presspass pages uses Silvelight :)
