I have uninstalled all of my SL versions, because I wanted to check if my inplace install prompt was showing correctly.
But now, after 30 mins of installing and uninstalling the silverlight 1.0, I stell get download silverlight.. I downloaded it directly from this site, and a few other microsoft sites, but no luck yet...
Anyone any idea what could be wrong? and yes, I'm trying to see 1.0 SL applications.
Maybe I should re-install something else too?
Thanks in advance!

Can you read these registry keys: HKCR\AgControl.AgControl HKCR\AgControl.AgControl\CLSID HKCR\AgControl.AgControl\CurVer

Hm no, I don't have permissions for that "map", It seems as there are no subfolder, but maybe that because I don't have the perms...
I am the admin of that pc(laptop) though!

I've observed that some people's computers lack any permissions on HKCR\. This presents a serious security concern, and you should fix that first. Silverlight should work once you make yourself the owner of those registry keys and grant yourself (and any other users that want to use Silverlight) read permissions.
It's not yet known why some people's computers don't have permissions on HKCR, but it's not caused by the Silverlight installer.

i have even less permissions in AgControl
my account is an admin account, and has permission to change permissions in AgControl
however when i change the permissions i get the message it can't be changed because i don't have the permissions to do that.
[EDIT]:ah,just found out why i couldn't change permissions.
you need to change permissions in HKCR instead of AgControl

I had the same problem after installing the .NET framework 3.5 runtimes on Windows XP pro SP2, and the permissions thing did not help-that may be a Vista issue?
So, if you get this on XP and you do have .net framework 3.5 installed, you might want to remove the following key:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings\5.0\User Agent\Post Platform\NET CLR 3.5.21022
NOTE this is not an official solution and it might break something else, so try at your own risk (of course, export it or back up your registry first); although I have not seen any problems myself so far.

ok,got a little bit of a problem
changing the permissions in the registry deleted half of HKCR
didn't notice it untill i changed permissions back, when some vital registry entries where deleted(like the one for .lnk files, and for explorer.exe)
right now i'm stuck with a very limited laptop that i need for school because of that. [EDIT]:i'm so glad HP puts in a restore system that can launch before windows starts.
registry restored to yesterday.
