I just submitted a new post. All but the 1st paragraph tags are being dropped. I edited it 4 times,then tried adding <P>. Not working.

It looks like you may have pasted the content of you post from another application such as Word. It seems to be filled with extra html markup that doesnt appear to have been create by the forum editor.
You could edit your post and cut/paste its content to notepad and then cut/paste it back into your empty post. that should clear all the stray tags and then the editor will work a bit more predictably.
