Just to check to see if it worked in Firefox 3, I installed Silverlight 2 Beta 2 and tested it on Silverlight websites (here, silverlight.net, and the expression studio 2 homepage). The Silverlight content isn't even loading.

Install this version to see if it works

That's the one I tried, and I just figured out you need the updated .js file.
So, basically, there is "not" a regular version of Silverlight (beta or otherwise) that works with Firefox 3.
Way to go, Microsoft, Adobe Flash is still three steps ahead.

I understand why you say that. But lets not forget that silverlight is still in beta.

Well, let's not forget that Silverlight 1 doesn't work in Firefox 3, either.
Right now, Silverlight is 'NOT' cross-browser.
Is a simple compatibility update for Silverlight 1 to much to ask for? They've known about this for months.
Do that, and I'd be happy to start using Expression Blend 2 (which is collecting dust, by the way).
Since it doesn't work with the latest version of the second most popular browser (IE7 is first, I think) it counts as a very nasty bug.
I can't expect all visitors to my websites to figure out things aren't working becuase they need to update the js. file!!

Your visitors don't need to update the js file, you do. I've heard that Flash is having trouble with Firefox 3 right now too because of some of the latest changes Firefox 3 made. So yes, they knew about Firefox 3 for months, but there are some things that changed right before this latest release that couldn't be anticipated.
PS: You don't need to download the whole SDK to get the new Silveright.js file, it's available off a link from this article:

Have you tried using this new javascript file and see if Silverlight 1 now works? It works fine on mine with this fix.

Sorry I didn't respond sooner. The Silverlight.net server seemed to be down for a while (looks like it's fixed now).
Where/when I do paste that javascript? I'm a bit of a beginner.
And why doesn't the Silverlight.net website or the Expression Studio website use it?

I have had no problems using FF3 with SL2 Beta2 on XP SP3 & Win2k3 SP1 at all.
(With the FF3 beta & SL2 Beta1 the browser would crash on exit.)

Maybe the websites you visit use the updated javascript file.
When I use Silverlight 2 Beta 2 on the Silverlight.net pages and the Expression Studio home, there's a blank space where the page should be and I don't have an option for Silverlight Configuration. It's as if that part of the page was normally blank.

No, I tried the 2 you mentioned -

Well, that's really weird - becuase on mine it is definately not working.

Try to re-install it.

Well, here's how it started out (originally)
I upgraded to Silverlight 2 Beta 2, discovered the Silverlight content didn't display in Firefox 3 either, and uninstalled.
After that I installed Silverlight 1 again - still no go.
Following your advice, I uninstalled Silverlight 1 - ran the CCleaner registry cleaner, downloaded Silverlight 2 Beta 2, and removed the previous installers on my desktop. Then I installed S2B2, and again - there is a white space where the content should be. Plus, I don't get an option for Silverlight Configuration like I did with S1.
I ran CCleaner - same result.
And now I'm back where I started (though this time I have a beta installed).

That sounds strange coz many can show Silverlight by using FireFox 3 including me
Actually, what is your System Configuration?

Could you be a little bit more specific?
If you mean OS, I'm running Windows XP SP3 Media Center Edition (latest updates).

I am running Sp2 with Media Center and everything is ok

Well... is this an incompatibility with SP3, then? Should I tell MSFT?

Am I right in saying that it is a bug with something? All I'd like to know is who's probably at fault, and I'd get their assistance. v\:* {behavior:url(#default#VML);} o\:* {behavior:url(#default#VML);} w\:* {behavior:url(#default#VML);} .shape {behavior:url(#default#VML);} Normal 0

hi Larry212, about your comment "Way to go, Microsoft, Adobe Flash is still three steps ahead. " you mean Flex ? 'cause Flash for me has been beaten with Silverlight 1.

Well, have you tried it with Firefox 3 yet? On both of my computers (one XP SP3, one Vista SP1), I cannot see Silverlight 1 or 2 (Beta 2) content in Firefox 3 with the corresponding plugins installed, uninstalled, reinstalled, and the registry cleaned/unccleaned with CCleaner.
