Check the version of Microsoft.VisualStudio.Web.Application.dll
C:\Program Files\Microsoft Visual Studio 9.0\Common7\IDE\Microsoft.VisualStudio.Web.Application.dll VS 08 RTM 9.0.21022.8 Silverlight Tools Beta 1 (for VS08 RTM) 9.0.21116.48 Silverlight Tools Beta 2 (for VS08 RTM) 9.0.21022.108 VS 08 SP1 Beta 9.0.30428.1 Silverlight Tools Beta 2 (for VS08 SP1 Beta) 9.0.30428.9
C:\Program Files\Microsoft Visual Studio 9.0\Common7\IDE\Microsoft.VisualStudio.Web.Application.dll
If your have 9.0.21116.48 then KB949325 is still installed. Let me know the version you have.

Hi rickjac,
I just want to confirm how your machine ended up in this state. Are the following install steps accurate?
Also, what OS are you running on?
If you have any more issues, please let us know.
Thanks

Unfortunately, with this bug even uninstalling and reinstalling VS doesn't fix the problem. When you ran the command line part of Brad's post, was there an instance of Windows Installer that stayed around and did some work for a while? If not, you probably didn't run it correctly, and might try again.
If the Windows Installer did run for a little while, try running the chainer again. Does it replace the file?

Hello jamlew
yes the installer stayed around and I run the chainer agian I still get the same messages
and it dose not replace the file I removed the kb files and ran the command line and the chainer while i was wating for a reply i even restarted my machine My VS 2008 comand prompt starts at
C:\Program Files\Microsoft Visual Studio 9.\VC> and I pasted the command in here

choose items VS shuts itself off

I've tried evry sujestion on this post and still nothing has worked in the control panel
Silverlight 2 beta 2 tools for visual studio appear to be installed on my machine when I run the chainer the message indicates installation was succesfull when I start visual studio silverlight dose'nt sho up on the splash screen when I creat a new silverlight project
I get
Method 'SelectSilverlightProject' in type 'Microsoft.VisualStudio.Silverlight.SLPackage' from assembly 'Microsoft.VisualStudio.Silverlight,Version=9.0.0.0 Culture=neutral' PublickeyToken=b03f5f7f11d50a3a' dose not have implementation.
If I open a regular exsisting web site I get the follwing two message boxes
If i go to my tooolbox and chose items I have about 35 silverlight components none of them will go in to the toolbox at this point I cant get passed the first video getting started I have to stop about half way through when it gets to the installation part
My Web.Application.dll is still 9.0.21116.48
At this point I'm stuck If any one has any Ideas I would greatly appreciate them

BradlyB gets high marks for this one it worked for me
I spent hours on the phone with BradlyB tring to fix we resorted to Uninstalling VS2008
and deleting the file from the program files reinstall VS ,SP1 , .net3.5 beta and then silverlight 2 beta 2 this seems to elimanate all reference to kb949325
then check in the control panel to see if silverlight 2 beta 2 is 1.7 mb if its 1.4 mb go to this post http://silverlight.net/forums/t/18240.aspx
it worked for me
