I have every update on my computer. Iv installed Silverlight. It was working a month ago. Its not owrking now. I checked my add ons and it was enabled. I un installed it. rebooted, re installed it. Will not work still. I uninstalled it. tried every Registry trick in this forum and even ran thr subinacl tool. Noo dice. Funny thing is. Even though now that silverlight has been reinstalled for the 20 billionth time, the add-ons does not list it anymore under any of the filters in the drop down menu. But I do see silverlight stuff running in this forum. Thing is, every other site asks me to install silverlight. Every site in the showcase will not work and I clicked on just about every one. Iv read through and tried the suggestions of many posts in this forum. none work and now I dont even see the add on in my add ons list after foloowing some registry tips even after many unistall and reinstall routines....reboots...and pulling out of my hair.
So why can I right click and confirm that silverlight is working on this site, but every other site asks me to install it? I even tried the ver. 2 beta 2 and the site says I have 1 installed. Agcontrol class add on is working and on.

I would also like to add that it works in Firefox. Why Firefox when IE7 is Microsofts own product? Why would Silverlight work on the Silverlight site under IE7 but no other sites like Popfly.com for example which is another MS site?

I believe these forums use Silverlight 1.0. If you can see interactive content here, can you right-click, choose Silverlight Configuration and look for the version number? Those other sites you visit must be using a beta of Silverlight 2 which is why you're seeing the "install Silverlight" badge.
Last night we released Silverlight 2 Beta 2. You can uninstall your existing Silverlight runtime and then navigate to http://www.microsoft.com/silverlight/resources/install.aspx?v=2.0 to install the new Beta. Some sites (such as those built with Beta 1) will still not work because there are breaking changes, but hopefully in the coming days those sites will move to the new Beta.

I have tried both versions 1 and 2 beta 2 of silverlight. I have been to over 50 sites with no exageration. It works in firefox....but not in IE7. That makes no sense at all. I have completely uninstalled bother versions, reinstalled them and the only site that will work in IE7 is Microsofts own Silverlight.net
Im not the only one with this problem. I can use popfly.com or go to any of the other sites..regardless of Silverlight version and see it in Firefox....Just not IE.

I've got exactly the same problem, only i'm running Vista and IE8 in compat-mode. I also have to use subinacl to get Flash to work, seems to have messed up my Silverlight-installation. It won't return a version in the add-on manager...

yeah...I tried it with IE8 Beta also under XP and with IE7 compat mode too. Silverlight should work with Microsoft products with no problem.....Im not a Firefox fan or user, but have it for testing web pages and the darn thing works fine with Silverlight. Subinacl did nothing to help me.

Hi:
Please check your registry:
HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT->AgControl.AgControl
Make sure current user has read permission to all the items in it.
In addition please check whether the Silverlight add-on is enabled in IE.

Access denied on both they AgControl.AgControl and AgControl.AgControl.1.0. I'm however in Vista not able to set the rights although my account is running as Administrator. Any other ways to set these rights?
Also tried Run as Administrator and UAC is disabled. But no luck...

You can't get rights because the key's owner is probably SYSTEM or some other account you don't have direct access to. If you take ownership (which admins should have the rights to do) you should be able to add permissions after that.

Corrected the rights loads of times now, uninstalled, reinstalled several times. Nothing works. Any more ideas?

Have you checked the add-ons in IE? Is Microsoft Silverlight enabled there?

Yes, i also checked for each install/un-install but didn't do me any good. Can i get the proper reg-keys, maybe entering them directly might work..
BTW, with all the fiddling in the registry i also broke the SL1.0 support in Firefox ;-)

After a lot fiddling in the registry (agcontrol) and reclaiming all individuals ownerships i finally managed to restore SL1.0 functionality...
