New user to Visual Studio and Silverlight

Hi there,

I'm in the middle of my computer science degree, which is fun.  Have been doing a LOT of Java and not much C at this stage.  I have been programming BASIC since 1982 though, yeah I know.  I've also programmed in PERL, HTML, JavaScript, Actionscript and VRML (for some reason)

Moving to Silverlight, would I be best to jump straight into Orcas and C#?  I want to develop some online games and interactive web sites (of course).

I'm still coming to grips with how .Net and visual studio actually work with Silverlight (so much to learn) and would appreciate a bit of guidence from those in the know.  What I want to avoid is learning something new then re-learning it again a different way.  Plus, if it's easier to understand and use, that is always a bonus.

Thanks

Clinton

Hi Clinton,

I personally believe you will find value in working with C#.  Please keep in mind that Silverlight 1.1 is still in alpha so there will be some quirks.  However, it sounds like you have been developing software for a while so I'm guessing you have worked with alpha software before.

Personally, I migrated from Java to C# about 6-7 years ago and I haven't looked back.  I found the migration to be very easy.
