I installed an early version of Silverlight some time ago. When I try to uninstall it tells me that the msi package is not valid.
If I try reinstalling I am told that the path <...> "is not a valid installation package for the product. Try to find the installation package "Silverlight.msp" in a folder from which you can install."I tried multiple paths either locally or on the network and I get the same error. If I click "Ok" it allows me to try multiple times with the same result.
When I cancel I am told that the installation failed. If I click the link for more information I receive Error 1612 http://www.microsoft.com/silverlight/resources/help.aspx?errorID=1612
I've tried this as admin or as a user with admin rights with the same result. Windows XP SP2. Tried Firefox 2.0.0.14 and IE 7.9.5730.11. Same result whether the browsers are running or not.
Thanks,
Mike

I suggest removing your Silverlight installation with the Windows Instaler CleanUp Utility:http://support.microsoft.com/kb/290301
and then trying to install.
