okay, i need the silverlight to access a certain website for work. But, on my laptop computer, running win xp, it wont let me dowload or install. Keeps giving me this error message:
C:\documents and settings\e1705\local settings\temporary internet files\content.IE5\VA0Y1GC5\silverlight[1].exe is not a valid WIN32 application
i don't know if silverlight had previously gotten dowloaded on this laptop by another user, but i need silverlight to view my work website. Very urgent.

i've tried downloading from my work website (when i got to it on that laptop it comes up with a link button that says install microsoft silverlight) and i've tried to go directly to microsoft silverlight and download it from there. Either way i get the same message error.

Hi Clouds8,
You'd better first check whether you have Silverlight installed on your computer. If haven't installed, we can first install the relatest Windows Installer. Then, download Silverlight here and install it.

This seems that, you are running the installer directly from the server & hence some of your policies are preventing you from the installation. Better, save the file on your local drive. After successfull download start the installer. If this happens again, then just right click on the downloaded file & go to properties. From the general tab click on Unblock.
