slow RIA performance

hi guys!

so i downloaded the July CTP of the RIA services, and started writing a small silverlight application, fetching data from an SQL server. on my dev - PC everything works blisteringly fast (Vista X64 Business, all service packs and stuff). however, when i copied the project to one of our development servers (WIn 2k3 x64, all service packs as well), performance degraded considerably, by at least 100%.

any ideas how / why this happens? where should i start looking?

thanks
Tom

Re: slow RIA performance

You need to figure out exactly where the slowdown is and then come back with a more targeted question. Right now, there are just too many possibilities.

Additional info that would be nice to have:

  • Are you using IIS on your local box?
  • Is there anything else running on your development server?
  • What is the difference in CPU/Memory between your local box and the server? It is very possible that your dev box is simply twice as fast as the server.
