Got it installed. Designer doesn't seem to be working for me, doesn't come up at all.

You mean the XAML designer inside VS2008? Wow, that would be nice if that guy would go away :)

Yep. Not even a read only view. I'm hoping this is a problem with my setup, because I actually like to preview my changes.

Yeah ok, that seems like a bug. But it would be nice if it didn't HAVE to open everytime you try to open an XAML file :)
