ADO.NET Data Services will be able to support a generic data container....

Based on this message http://blogs.msdn.com/pablo/archive/2008/11/01/ado-net-data-services-in-windows-azure-pushing-scalability-to-the-next-level.aspx I wonder if this will have any impacto on RIA Services. I mean the ADO.NET Data Services is very forgiving when it comes to mapping messages to entities according to this message. And there is a shift from compile time entities to a "record set" based approach.

Re: ADO.NET Data Services will be able to support a generic data container....

This is where RIA Services fits into ADO.NET Data Services. First off, keep in mind that this message was from last November and the Astoria and Alexandria teams had just started talking to each other at that point. Astoria = ADO.NET Data Services and Alexandria = DataGrid/DataForm/RIA Services for those who haven't been keeping up on the team names. So, in that message they say that ADO.NET Data Services will be getting better support for dynamic, flexible data while the primary scenario is still creating services from .Net objects, L2S, or L2E. My guess is that as time goes by what we currently call RIA Services will take over that "primary scenario".
