A few days back I installed:
And then began working through some Silverlight tutorials. After coming up against an exception (with a completely generic error message) while trying to display an image I decided there could be something wrong with my installation (I had already resorted back to IE8 as Silverlight wouldn't work at all in Firefox 3.0.11).
However, now I can't get Silverlight to install at all. The installation jumps to 90% and then gives an installation failed message. I have tried uninstalling Visual Web Developer, the Silverlight SDK and Tool and even IE8 but to no avail. Silverlight does not appear in the Control Panel or in the Windows Install Cleanup Utility and there is no Silverlight folder under Program Files. Below are the first few lines of the Silverlight0.log file:
[20:00:11] Silverlight installer logging started.
[20:00:13] Install button clicked.
[20:00:13] Installer is same as installed product, beginning repair.
[20:00:13] Beginning repair with following command line:
[20:00:13] REINSTALL=ALL REINSTALLMODE=emusc MSIRMSHUTDOWN=2 REBOOT=ReallySuppress
[20:00:15] Repairing the MSP with following command line:
[20:00:15] REINSTALL=ALL REINSTALLMODE=emusc MSIRMSHUTDOWN=2 REBOOT=ReallySuppress
[20:00:15] Repair finished with following return code:
[20:00:15] 1642
I can supply the SilverlightMSI.log file if that helps.
Any help with this problem would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Colin

Thanks Ken, that did the trick.
I'd be interested to know where that link came from and how it's different version I was using previously.

That was a link to the developer version of silverlight.
